Money in the Bank 2018 Preview

Money in the Bank will take place this Sunday night at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, and will be for the 9th installment of the summer spectacular.  The card for the show looks to be a lot better than what Backlash produced so let's just hop that on the night it all lives up to the hype and delivers.

AJ Styles is set to defend his WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura for the 4th strait PPV, but this time it is will happen under Last Man Standing rules.  Since winning the Royal Rumble match back in January Shinsuke has been on a proving path wanting to take the WWE Title from AJ Styles in any fashion possible.  At Wrestlemania Nakamura lost to Styles in their first match against one another since Wrestle Kingdom X in 2016.  Since then Styles had retained the title at the Great Royal Rumble via disqualification and then at Backlash via champions advantage when the two went to a draw.  On Smackdown last night The King of Strong Style layed out Jeff Hardy with the Kinshasa for the count of 10, gaining massive momentum going into his match against Styles on Sunday.  Hopefully this time Nakamura can win clean and walk away with the Title.

Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, The Miz, Rusev, Bobby Roode, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and member of the New Day will compete in the men's Money in the Bank Ladder match in hopes of winning the coveted briefcase.  Out of the men competing in the match only The Miz had ever won a MITB match and has that advantage going into the PPV.  On Smackdown this week, after a match between Samoa Joe and Rusev, The Awesome One climbed the ladder and retrieved the briefcase in what was hopefully a sign of things to come.  Nia Jax, the Raw Women's Champion, will defend her title against former UFC Champion Ronda Rousey in a match that has had plenty of build over the past month or so.  The match came about during Rousey interview on May 14th Raw when Jax interputed and challenged the Rowdy One to a match at The Bank.  Recently on Raw Ronda Rousey sent a message to the champion by locking her in an Armbar causing Jax to tapout in panic.  We only have to wait 4 days to see what will happen.

The wave of change continues to ripple throughout the wrestling world as it has officially been announced that, after 29 years wrestling for the WWE, The Undertaker has retired from the squared-circle. Randy Orton to Sign With AEW

Last week it was rumored that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar was in talks with All Elite Wrestling, with a possible move after Wrestlemania 35, and this week, according to Destination PW , it is said that the Florida outfit has now approached 'The Viper' to be their first direct signing from WWE. Randy Orton has been with the WWE for 17 years and since his in-ring debut in April 2002 and has gone on to have 17 various title reigns across both the Raw and Smackdown brands as well as being a 2 time Royal Rumble winner and 1 time Money in the Bank winner.  Orton is one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the company, and currently holds the position of the veteran heel, a role which would surely become void if he was to leave for AEW.  The motives for 'The Apex Predator' being in talks with AEW is not know, but is presumably linked with a bigger pay check and a less intense work schedule.  What we do know is that if Orton did jump ship a large portion of

Although this year's Wrestlemania is still a month and a half away, I thought why not get into the spirit of things a little early with a celebration of the PPV's epic history.  With a 35 year history, there have been several spectacular Showcase of Immortals events over the years, including Wrestlemania III, XVII, XIX, XXI, and XXXI, however I am now going to try my hardest to convince as many of you Boomers as possible as to why Wrestlemania XXIII is the most exceptional of them all.
