Lesnar's Last Great Match

Hello Boomers, how are we all doing?  If you haven't already you should check out the classic between The Spoiler and Ken Patera from December 1978 on Youtube.  No to the article, a few weeks ago I wrote about the failure that is Brock Lesnar's Universal Title reign and it went down like a treat but this week I decided that I should talk about something a little more positive about The Beast, that being his last great WWE match.

Brock Lesnar has been dominating the WWE roster since his return to the company way back in the Spring of 2012, facing off against the greatest the company has to offer, with his only one-on-one losses coming against John Cena at Extreme Rules 2012, Triple H at Wrestlemania 29, and Goldberg at Survivor Series 2016.  Since then, Lesnar went on to win the Universal Title from Goldberg at Mania 33, defeating him for the first ever time in what was a good result at the time.  Since then, however Lesnar's matches have taken a huge downturn, both in terms of credibility and excitement.  At the time of writing The Beast has been Universal Champion for 427 days, making it one of the longest title reigns in company history.

During this title reign Lesnar has seen off challengers such as Samoa Joe, who did put up a good showing, and Roman Reigns, who even after a 3 year build, could not dethrone Lesnar at the latest installment of Wrestlemania or even at the Greatest Royal Rumble, but lets just forget how the latter match ended.  Although Lesnar's matches of late have been lackluster, we only need to venture back to the summer of 2016 to find his last great math, that being his Summerslam contest against The Viper Randy Orton.  Why this match? What made this bout better than the rest? I hear you ask.  Well, it's pretty simply really, the absence of the Universal Title.  As, at this point, Lesnar was not Universal Champion, and the fact that his opponent is one of the greatest wrestlers in WWE history, gave you the feel that either man could walk away with the victory.  With Lesnar not having anything to loose and Orton having everything to gain, needing to get his record back on track, the match had the feel of an MMA showdown in which both men were on a proving game the entire time.  The match was also one of the most highly anticipated bouts of the past decade.  During the match Lesnar mostly dominated however Orton did hit two RKO's one on an announcers table and a second in the ring for a near fall but after 10 minutes and a brutal beat-down (which would usually take place in the UFC Octagon) that cut open Orton's head, Lesnar got the victory via technical knockout.

That's my opinion as to why Lesnar vs. Orton from Summerslam 2016 was The Beast's last great match, but what was your favorite Lesnar match since his WWE return in 2012?  Please comment, like and follow.
