Top 5 Tag Teams in the World

Tag Teams have always been a staple of all wrestling companies around the world had have given many wrestlers a chance to gain success in which they would not have got if they remained a singles competitor.  Tag Teams in all companies, just like individuals, go out there every night and try to prove themselves to the audience, whether it be 100 or 50,000 fans, with the same intention....be named the World's Greatest Tag Team.  I personally love tag team wrestling with the Hardy Boyz being one of the key reasons I got into wrestling as a youngster, and have decided that, with the scene being so strong in 2018, I will aim to count down the Top 5 Tag Teams in the World today!

5) LAX (Santana & Ortiz)

Santana and Ortiz first took up the mantle of the Latin American Xchange on March 16th 2017 in Impact Wrestling.  Under the tutelage of Konan, then King, and now Konan once again, Santana & Ortiz are 3 time Impact Tag Team Champions holding the belts a total of 413 days as of today.  The Latino's have defeated all comers including Trevor Lee & Caleb Connolly, Everett & DJ Z, and of course O.V.E.  LAX will face their toughest test yet when at Slammiversary on Sunday they face the OG's, former LAX members Homicide and Hernandez.  Whether LAX defeat the OG's or not, Santana & Ortiz have done enough to claim the title of Impact's best team in the present day.

4) The Briscoes

Mark and Jay the Briscoe Brothers are one of Ring of Honor's all time great teams and over their 16 years with the company have held the Tag Team Titles for a total of almost 1,000 days.  When everyone thought the brothers to be bygones Mark and Jay were able to build their legacy throughout 2018 by they defeating the Motor City Machine Guns at the ROH 16th Anniversay Show and gain the Belts for a record 9th time.  A standout match for the Briscoes in 2018 was their match against Jay Lethal and Hiroshi Tanahashi at Supercard of Honor which was an absolute classic.  Will we see more to come from the Brsicoes in the future...of course we will, they are awesome and awesome never dies.

3) Guerrillas of Destiny

The Guerrillas of Destiny comprise of Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, formally WWE's Camacho, and have been at the centre of NJPW's Tag Team scene for the better part of 2 years.  The two 'Togans' were a aprt of the Bullet Club until recently when they got tired of Kenny's and Cody's politics and created a new stable the Firing Squad along side King Haku and Bad Luck Fale.  The Guerrillas have held the IWGP Tag Team Titles 3 times as well as the Never Openweight Six Man belts alongside Fale making them extremely successful in the lineage of New Japan.  It will be interesting to see if this particular team, with help from their cohorts, is enough to take down the Club and become New Japan's premier team.

2) Undisputed Era

The only WWE team on this list comes from NXT, the Undisputed Era is formally a stable but tends to compete on more of a Tag Team level with Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong being the current NXT Tag Team Champions, and possibly the best tag champs in the Yellow Brands History.  Not just are the members of the Undisputed Era some of the best technical wrestlers in the world, they are entertaining with the combination of experience and the ability to stay fresh creating the perfect combination.  The Era have now held the titles over 2 reigns for more than 200 days in total.  With their main rivals the Authors of Pain and Sanity on the main roster it will be interesting to see what is next in store for the Undisputed Kings of NXT.

1) Young Bucks

We have already looked at some amazing tag team from around the world but now it is time to appreciate the greatness that is the Young Bucks, as controversial as they are, their legacy is second to non when it comes to tag team of this decade.  Some of their achievements include being the current IWGP Tag Team Champions, former and 7 time IWGP Jr Tag Team Champions, 4 time PWG Tag Team Champs, and 3 time ROH Tag Team Champions.  The Bucks are by far the most decorated tag team of all time when it comes to gathering gold from around the world.  Matt and Nick Jackson really have set the world alight with their unique ring-style and charisma that generates both passion and emotion from all in attendance.

There we have it guys, the Top 5 Tag Teams in the World today.  What are your opinions and who would have topped your list?  Please comment, like, and follow for more wrestling...because wrestling matters!
