Will Reigns Reign at Summerslam?
Hello folks, how are you all enjoying the build to the double-header of Brooklyn IV and Summerslam 2018? Personally, I see Brooklyn as being the main show and Summerslam being a cooling off period, but I suppose for many fans it's been like that for the past three years. Speaking of Summerslam, let's get into the heart of the article.
After defeating Bobby Lashley to become number 1 contender to the Universal Title on Raw a few weeks back, Roman Reigns is due to fight Lesnar at Summerslam on August 19th at the Barclays Centre in New York. Although the Big Dog has been in the main event scene since Wrestlemania 31 he has never bested the Beast in Incarnate when it comes to a Title match, however, that all looks to change at Summerslam.
We all know that Brock Lesnar only really turns up in the WWE when it suites him, with the audience being lucky if they see the Beast five times a year. These five times, as minute as they are, may turn obsolete with Lesnar only contracted with the WWE until August 28th of this year, meaning that he will appear on the Raw before the PPV, Summerslam itself, and the post-Summerslam Raw. You have all probably worked out what this means, yes, it means that as Lesnar is returning to the UFC after the end of August, Roman Reigns will finally be defeating Lesnar and, for the first time ever, winning the Universal Championship.
There are two ways of seeing this situation. First of all, you can view the fact that having Reigns as a full-time champion is better than having Lesnar as an 'I only fight when I want to, part-time' champion. Or, you could view it as 'why is Roman still getting shoved down our throats?' Whatever your opinion, Summerslam will be a momentous night and one that will shake the WWE Universe in the first major way since Rollins' cash-in at Mania 31. Finally, in response to the article's title, Will Reigns Reign at Summerslam? Yes he will!
