Top 5 Raw Superstars Who Deserve a Push!

Image
We all know that Raw has a stacked roster, one which consists mostly of brawling big-guys, and is overflowing with talent in which their full potential is yet to be unlocked, and despite putting in consistently solid efforts night in a night out, some talents don't seem to be heading anywhere other than into the trash can outside the arena.  The likes of Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, and Brock Lesnar get praise for whatever they do, whether a success or not, yet when you look just down the card, at those stuck in the middle, it is hard not to want to put one of the lesser talents in the main event simply for their work ethic.  I mean, we all want to see Curtis Axel beat the living daylights out of Brock Lesnar right? Here are 5 Raw superstars that deserve a push....Now! 5)  Bobby Roode Bobby Roode was one of the most decorated wrestler outside of the WWE having held the TNA World, and Tag Team Titles on several occasions and, had done pretty well for himself sinc...

Why You SHOULD Watch British Wrestling in 2019!!!

Image
Let me start this article, or mini debate, by saying that I love wrestling, and I know it sounds obvious, by I really do LOVE it, whether it be WWE's over-the-top antics, NJPW's ongoing faction wars, or a RevPro instant classic.  For the many years I have been watching wrestling I have been swarmed by the likes of WWE, Impact, and ROH, and being British myself, I can't quite get over the fact that British wrestling has never, to this day, been given the respect it so rightfully deserves.  So, today, I'm going to give my argument as to why you SHOULD watch British wrestling in 2019. British wrestling, over the years, has been victim to a perception that it can't quite measure up to the American scene, however over the past few years we have been living in a revolution, a revolution that has witnessed British wrestling promotions go from small time town-hall entertainment acts to big-time sporting attractions, performing in front of a worldwide audience.  When y...

A Raw Night: Survivor Series 2018 Review

Image
Last night WWE presented the 32nd annual Survivor Series event live from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles where 21,000 fans witnessed Raw's mauling of Smackdown Live.  Going into the event both brands had seen viable success when it came to competing at Survivor Series events over recent years, however, this installment would be different.  Let's take a look at some of the matches, and review one of the most one-sided shows in brand versus brand history. For the Men's traditional Survivor Series match, Raw's Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, and Bobby Lashley, toppled Smackdown's much more exciting team of The Miz, Shane O'Mac, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe, and Jeff Hardy.  With the teams looking pretty even on paper, the fans much expected the contest to be even throughout, however, this was not the case, as after Joe, Balor, and Ziggler had been eliminated, and all was looking strong for the Blue Brand, Smackdown would be receive 4 consec...

News: Injury, Champion vs Champion, and App Launch

Image
This week has been a big one for the wrestling world as Crown Jewel took place, in an event that was highly anticipated yet highly disappointing, Britain's biggest promotion launched an app set to revolutionize its future, and NJPW's Power Struggle took place just over 24 hours ago. Here are this weeks headlines in the News! Return of the Mac : At WWE's controversial Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia, the World Cup finals took place to cement one superstar as the best of the best, the only problem was that the said superstar was Shane O'Mac.  O'Mac wasn't initially in the tournament but shimmied his way into the final against Dolph Ziggler, and went on to win the match. This is a pathetic attempt to gain attention by WWE, especially on a show that featured the Brothers of Destruction, DX. And Brock Lesnar in the highest profile matches.  As the reliance on the old guard continues, so will the negative backlash from the fans! Injured Game:   At C...

SMACKDOWN 1000 REVIEW: WAS IT A SUCCESS?

Image
The 1000th episode of Smackdown aired last night from the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. and featured some familiar faces, among of whom were Rey Mysterio, Batista, and even Ric Flair.  The hype around this show was undeniable and without a doubt the most anticipated WWE weekly episodic show since Raw 1000 back in July 2012.  With so much build surrounding the show and the roster which would be utilized, did WWE hit the jackpot when it came to it's second ever millennium celebration?  Let's take a look. As most of the show was built around qualifying matches for the WWE World Cup it was only right that two of the most celebrated individuals on the planet fought it out to participant in the upcoming tournament.  Mexico's, well California's, Rey Mysterio took on Japan's Shinsuke Nakamura in a typically athletic, but by no means boring, encounter.  In a result well worth waiting for, Rey Mysterio pinned Nakamura after a 619 and Springboard Frog Splash af...

TOP 5 MATCHES IN SMACKDOWN HISTORY

Image
Smackdown has been on our TV's every week for the past 19 years and will celebrate it's 1000th episode tomorrow night in Washington D.C.  With talents such as Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and AJ Styles competing on the brand over the years the show has played host to some of the most entertaining and fascinating matches in all of wrestling.  Let's take a look at Smackdown's Top 5 Matches in History! 5)  AJ Styles vs Dean Ambrose- Jan 31, 2017 AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose were Smackdown's two best competitors between July 2016 and March 2017 and this, along with their clash at Backlash, proved why the two were given the monumental task of elevating Smackdown to the same level as Raw when it went live after the Superstar Shake-Up.  At the time of this contest AJ Styles was the WWE Champion after winning the belt from Amrbose 4 months earlier, with Ambrose being on a warpath to regain the belt.  The match was back-and-forth, with most moves con...

GREATEST INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONS OF ALL TIME

Image
The Intercontinental Championship has been one of the grandest prizes in the WWE for 39 years and has been held by dozens and dozens of the best superstars to ever compete in the squared-circle.  The belt has been central to many amazing rivalries, tournaments, and matches, and has even earned the name the 'Workhorse Title' thanks to the technical ability of the wrestlers that have held the belt, and it's ability to get wrestlers over with the crowd, hence, elevating their career.  Here are the top 5 Intercontinental Champions of all time! 5)  The Miz Kicking off the list is the 'Awesome One' The Miz.  Yes, many people do not class him as one of the IC Titles greatest champs of all time but I beg to differ.  From 2012 until 2018 The Miz has held the belt 8 times for a combined 599 days, making him the second most successful Intercontinental Champion of all time.  Only Chris Jericho have held the title more times, and Pedro Morales has held it for a l...

WHY I LOVE SMACKDOWN

Image
On Tuesday 16th October the 1000th episode of Smackdown will finally be coming our way and we are in for an absolute treat.  Rey Mysterio, Batista, Kurt Angle, and the APA are all confirmed to be competing in matches on this celebratory episode, and on top of this we have  the possibility that both Edge and The Rock will be joining the legendary line-up of Smackdown's all-time greats.  2018, so far, has been the year of Smackdown with the show being by far superior compared to it's Monday Night rival, and with such hype surrounding the 1000th episode there is no better time for me to talk about why I love Smackdown so much. Ever since the Brand Expansion in 2002 Smackdown has been classed as the B-Show despite producing a superior in-ring product week in a week out and having a roster with more technically gifted athletes.  During the Ruthless Aggression Era Smackdown had better contests, more interesting rivalries and the ability to elevate more superstars e...

5 GREATEST TAG TEAMS IN WWE TODAY!

Image
Throughout WWE's history we have witnessed many of the world's best tag teams compete in the squared-circle to put on some of the most memorable matches of all time, however, recently the promotion has gained a negative reputation when it comes to their ability to create tag teams worthy of being called the best of the best.  Although this bad reputation has surrounded the company for a few years I do believe that the tag teams on the roster today are genuinely spectacular.  Here are the top 5 greatest tag teams in WWE today. 5)  The Usos Jimmy and Jay, The Usos, have been apart of the Smackdown roster since the Brand Split in 2016 and have won the Blue Brand's Tag Team Titles on three separate occasions, holding the gold for a combined 329 days which, let's be honest, is a long time in today's world.  The Usos repackaged themselves in late 2016 as tough street brawlers in an image change that suites their appearance much more than the happy-go-lucky bro...

Top 5 Wrestlers in TNA History!

Image
TNA, formerly Global Force and now Impact Wrestling, is one of the world's most popular promotions and has been on a rocky road ever since it first appeared on our screens in 2002.  Although the company has gone through many phases it has also played host to some of the greatest wrestlers in history, a few of which remained with the company for the better part of a decade.  Today, the company's roster is full of hidden gem talents who are putting on spectacular matches, adding to the contests put on by outstanding performers of the past.  Here are Impact wrestling's greatest wrestlers of all time. 5) Samoa Joe The Samoan Submission Machine made his TNA debut at Slammiversary in 2005 by defeating Sonjay Dutt and has never once looked back.  Within a month Joe had put on a 5 star match against AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels at Unbreakable and later that year would capture the X Division Title for the first time.  Since then Joe went on to win the X Divis...

What To Expect At Super Show-Down

Image
WWE Super Show-Down comes to us tomorrow night from Melbourne, Australia, being a show that will feature 10 high-profile matches showcasing the best from both Raw and Smackdown.  Recently WWE PPV's have been decent but have lacked the 'it factor' that gives it greatest shows a certain feel and vibe.  Super Show-Down is expected to bring that back, especially with it being the first major show held in Australia since its Global Warning Tour back in 2002.   Let's take a look at what we can expect from this Super Show! The Angel strikes the Deadman : In the main event veterans Triple H and The Undertaker will go head to head in their first collision since Wrestlemania XXVIII in what is to be an epic match between two of the WWE's most respected, and successful, superstars of all time.  To add to the excitement Shawn Michaels will be in ex-DX stablemate Triple H's corner whilst Kane will be in Taker's corner.  In this match we can expect Triple H to walk a...

Top 5 Underrated PPVs in WWE History!

Image
As wrestling fans we have all heard of those shows that have left millions of viewers stunned with excitement and have gone down in history as the best 3 hours to ever grace our screens.  Shows such as No Way Out 2000, Wrestlemania XXIII, and Summerslam 2016 are still talking points among us fans to this day, still casting a shadow over the hundreds of other PPVs that have taken place over the years.  But what about those overlooked shows that are often surprisingly entertaining.  Here are the Top 5 Underrated PPVs in wrestling history! 5) Survivor Series 2012 The Shield's debut, Dolph Ziggler captaining a Survivor Series team, and yet another CM Punk spectacle were just a few reasons why Survivor Series 2012 is one of the greatest PPVs of all time, yet still remains underrated to this day.  Dolph Ziggler lead the heel team of Damien Sandow, David Otunga, Wade Barrett, and Alberto Del Rio (an odd but amazing collective if you ask me) against Mick Foley's face...

Is Raw Dying?

Image
Raw, WWE's flagship show, the longest weekly episodic program in the history of television, a 25 year old phenomenon that has gone from ballrooms to the biggest arenas around the world and has played host to thousands of spectacular matches, may very well be dying. According to Cageside Seats  Raw only managed to draw an average of 2.35 million viewers this past week, it's lowest audience in history.  Smackdown is generating around 2.2 million viewers a week making WWE's 'Premier Show' not so flagship and more sinking ship, something which comes as no surprise to any one us, you only have to look at the product and the roster to understand why.  Before we take a look at the current mishaps, let's just take a glance back at viewership of years gone by.  19 years ago in 1999, in the heart of the Attitude Era and the shows most popular time, Raw was pulling in about 5.5 million viewers, 10 years ago we it was watched by 3.5 million and only 5 years ago was...

Top 5 Rey Mysterio Matches in WWE History

Image
The Master of the 619, the Ultimate Underdog, the man formerly known as Calibri, is one of the greatest and most loved in-ring performers in the history of the wrestling world.  Mysterio is one of the original wrestlers to have brought the Lucha style to the mainstream and is known globally for his ability to make the action exciting and get the crowd buzzing.  After a three year absence, Mysterio has signed a two year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment, a move that shocked and surprised the Universe.  In celebration of his return to the WWE I have decided to take a look back at his 5 greatest WWE matches of all time! 5) Rey Mysterio vs. John Morrison- Smackdown September 4th 2009 This clash with John Morrison is probably the best non-PPV match of 2009 and is one of Smackdown's best matches of the decade as it saw two extremely talented, charismatic wrestlers, with perfect chemistry put on a clinic of a showing.  Going into this match Rey Mysterio was the...

Aggression Beats Attitude

Image
In the WWE Universe there has been much debate over the years as to which era is the pinnacle period of in-ring action whether that be the characters, the matches, or the wrestling itself, for some reason we are all drawn to one era over another.  Yet, here we are 16 years after the end of the Attitude Era and millions of fans still claim it to be the greatest time in wrestling history, however, there are others, like myself, that believe the era that followed was even greater, that being the Ruthless Aggression Era.  Here is why I believe that Aggression is better than Attitude when it comes to the quality of the WWE product. The Ruthless Aggression Era kick-started on March 25th 2002 with the initial WWE draft, and ended after the Great American Bash 2008, an event that became a main stay during the era and a year-on-year highlight.  Prior to the Draft Triple H, The Rock, Steve Austin, and The Undertaker had been main eventing more or less every show for the past ...
