WWE Backlash 2018 Predictions

WWE Backlash 2018 will go down tomorrow night in Newark, New Jersey, a city known for it's rowdy crowds and intense atmosphere.  Backlash is one of the most historically consistent PPV's in WWE, generally putting on a very solid show, with the exception of the odd match here and there.  This year's event will feature 8 matches on the main show, and one on the pre-show, with a huge tag team bout looking to take the main event spot.  Here are Wrestling Boom's predictions for this year's Backlash event.

Pre-show: Bayley vs. Ruby Riott

Prediction: Riott to win and send Bayley packing

1) AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura- WWE Championship

Prediction: Shinsuke Nakamura to finally defeat Styles and walk away the new WWE Champion

2) Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor- Intercontinental Championship

Prediction: Seth Rollins to retain the Intercontinental Championship and send Balor even further down the card

3) Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton- United States Championship

Prediction: The Enigmatic Enigma will retain, but a triple threat rematch will most likely take place in the near future, involving Shelton Benjamin

4) Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss- Raw Women's Championship

Prediction: Alexa Bliss to regain the Raw Women's Championship, and ending Nia's reign after 1 month

5) Carmella vs. Charlotte Flair- Smackdown Women's Championship

Prediction: Carmella to keep the belt and send Charlotte into a feud with Absolution

6) Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

Prediction: This is a bold one, but Samoa Joe to win via submission and go onto face AJ Styles for the WWE Title in the coming months, or maybe win the briefcase at Money in the Bank

7) Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass

Prediction: Daniel Bryan to win his first singles PPV match since April 2015

 8) Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

Prediction: Strowman and Lashley to win in dominant fashion but Lashley to Spear Strowman after the match, ending the show

The wave of change continues to ripple throughout the wrestling world as it has officially been announced that, after 29 years wrestling for the WWE, The Undertaker has retired from the squared-circle. Randy Orton to Sign With AEW

Last week it was rumored that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar was in talks with All Elite Wrestling, with a possible move after Wrestlemania 35, and this week, according to Destination PW , it is said that the Florida outfit has now approached 'The Viper' to be their first direct signing from WWE. Randy Orton has been with the WWE for 17 years and since his in-ring debut in April 2002 and has gone on to have 17 various title reigns across both the Raw and Smackdown brands as well as being a 2 time Royal Rumble winner and 1 time Money in the Bank winner.  Orton is one of the greatest wrestlers in the history of the company, and currently holds the position of the veteran heel, a role which would surely become void if he was to leave for AEW.  The motives for 'The Apex Predator' being in talks with AEW is not know, but is presumably linked with a bigger pay check and a less intense work schedule.  What we do know is that if Orton did jump ship a large portion of
