World of Sport has Returned!

Image
This past Saturday afternoon, at 5pm, the famous World of Sport finally returned to the screens of British televisions for the first time since 1985.  After 33 years of being left high and dry, the British wrestling audience got to once again delve into the world of wrestling on a national scale with a reported 1.2 million people tuning in, proving once again that wrestling in the United Kingdom is, and always has been, popular with generations of all ages. After a year and a half since the initial pilot episode in January 2017, the show's latest episode continued where the series left off with Grado still holding the WOS Championship.  The show opened with General Manager Stu Bennett (aka Wade Barrett) professing that a new era was beginning in British Wrestling but as he was about to really get going Grado walked down the ring only for Bennett to tell the Scot that he doesn't look like the sort of Champion he wants on the show. In a match that was made just a few mi

With much hype from the WWE Universe surrounding Summerslam it seems apparent that many people have let slip the fact that the night before we will be getting the 4th installment of TakeOver Brooklyn, a show that over the years has helped elevate NXT to the next level.  Throughout it's first three years Brooklyn shows have played host to some of the best matches in wrestling history, which in turn have enabled NXT to showcase some of the greatest show in WWE history.  With Brooklyn shows being so successful, and this years event being only 3 weeks away, the time is finally right to take a look at some of it's best contests! 5) Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Roode- Brooklyn III Drew McIntyre returned to the WWE in 2017 with the intention of proving a point that the company was wrong to mistreat him the first time round, which saw him leave a few years earlier to pursue Indy success.  McIntyre was thrust into the limelight when on August 19th 2017, at Brooklyn II, he went

Slammiversary XVI Review

Impact Wrestling put on it's annual summer PPV, Slammiversary, last night from the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto Canada.  As of late Impact has seen a vast improvement on the quality of it's product and that has been reflected not just in viewership but also the hype surrounding it's shows.  This installment of Slammiversary, the 16th show under that name, was the most anticipated Impact PPV since Bound for Glory 2015, a shows which took place almost 3 years ago.  With all wrestling fan's expectations so high did Impact finally deliver with their biggest card of the year?  Let's take a look! In a huge 5150 street fight the Latin American Xchange paring of Santana and Ortiz defended their Tag Team Titles against former LAX, and current OGs members Homicide and Hernandez in what was an exciting clash of generations.  The build to this match complemented the contest itself perfectly with the central theme being to prove a point to the opposition as to who tr

Top 5 Tag Teams in the World

Image
Tag Teams have always been a staple of all wrestling companies around the world had have given many wrestlers a chance to gain success in which they would not have got if they remained a singles competitor.  Tag Teams in all companies, just like individuals, go out there every night and try to prove themselves to the audience, whether it be 100 or 50,000 fans, with the same intention....be named the World's Greatest Tag Team.  I personally love tag team wrestling with the Hardy Boyz being one of the key reasons I got into wrestling as a youngster, and have decided that, with the scene being so strong in 2018, I will aim to count down the Top 5 Tag Teams in the World today! 5) LAX (Santana & Ortiz) Santana and Ortiz first took up the mantle of the Latin American Xchange on March 16th 2017 in Impact Wrestling.  Under the tutelage of Konan, then King, and now Konan once again, Santana & Ortiz are 3 time Impact Tag Team Champions holding the belts a total of 413 day

Why Roman Really Sucks

Image
Since the break up of the Shield in June 2014 Roman Reigns became WWE's new poster boy, and the wrestler that would get shoved down the fans throats for the next 4 years.  In these 4 years Roman turned from a cheered babyface to a 'booed out of the building' babyface.  Although millions of fans hate Reigns, and millions like him, not everyone understands exactly why he is hated so much and why the crowd's reaction is so sour every time he makes his entrance.  The reason is simple and has already been stated in this article....he is a babyface.  Other than the fact that he can't wrestle that well and his promos are as exciting as listening to 3 hours of nails of a chalkboard, the fact that The Big Dog has been presented as a babyface for 4 straight years is the foundation as to why he has not yet been accepted by the universe, and quite frankly his wrestling and mic skills play little factor.   Let's think for a second, Reigns defeated the Undertaker a

UFC: Dream Lesnar Opponents

Image
Brock Lesnar's first run in the UFC took place between 2007 and 2011 and saw the Beast in Incarnate take on, and in most cases take down, the best that the company had to offer.  After his last match in UFC Lesnar returned to World Wrestling Entertainment in 2012 and stayed in the wrestling scene for 6 years (bar one fight) with millions of fans worldwide believing that Lesnar would never fully return to the octagon, that was until last week.  At UFC 226 after watching the main event between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic, Lesnar entered the octagon and shoved Heavyweight Champion Cormier, officially stating his UFC return to the world.  With the Beast returning in such monumental fashion it is only correct that we take a look at 3 dream opponents we hope to see from Lesnar over the next year or so. Daniel Cormier Daniel Cormier, the current UFC Heavyweight Champion and the man who Lesnar confronted during his UFC return, would make excellent competiton for the Beast.

G1 Climax Block A Preview

The G1 Climax is New Japan Pro Wrestling's most prestigious of their many tournaments and was first won by Antonio Inoki in 1974 when it was known as World League.  Since then the tournament has been known as MSG League, International Wrestling Grand Prix League, World Cup Tournament, and from 1991, won by Masahiro Chono, the G1 Climax.  The winner of the G1 goes on to face the IWGP Heavyweight Champion at Wrestle Kingdom the following year in contests that are always Match of the Year contenders.  As is tradition, in 2018 the wrestlers have once again been split into Blocks A & B with the winners of each block facing off in the final. Block A this year is the more star studded of the two blocks as it features previous winners Hiroshi Tanahashi (2007, 2015) Kazuchika Okada (2012, 2014) and Togi Makabe (2009), who will bring not just star-power but also the experience necessary to win such a grueling tournament, one which requires strength, endurance, technical ability, an
