Showcase #3: Intercontinental Championship
In light of Seth Rollins winning the Intercontinental Championship and being on his was to creating what is sure to be a classic reign, it is only right that we look at some of the greatest moments in the prestigious title's history.
Seth Rollins ends his 6th Wrestlemania match as Intercontinental Champion after besting The Miz and Finn Balor in a near 5 star contest.
Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho battle for the title in a No Holds Barred match at Extreme Rules 2009. Chris Jericho would defeat Mysterio and win the Intercontinental Championship for the 9th and final time.
After a grueling Ladder match at Summerslam 1995 Razor Ramon lifts the arm of Shawn Michaels in a show of respect between two of the greatest superstars in company history. This was the last time the two men would face off on WWE television.
The first ever Intercontinental Champion Pat Patterson carries the belt towards the ring at Wrestlemania 31. Daniel Bryan would win the title that night in a ladder match, taking it from Wade Barrett in the process.
Jeff hardy gives the legendary title his signature stare at a house show in 2007. Jeff Hardy has held the belt a total of 4 times totaling 330 days.
Dolph Ziggler lock The Miz in a Sleeperhold during their match for the IC Title at Backlash 2016. The Miz would retain the belt that night only to loose it to Ziggler one month later at No Mercy.
Shelton Benjamin hits Chris Jericho with a Dragon Whip at Taboo Tuesday 2004 starting his first ever IC Title reign which would last an impressive 244 days. Benjamin and Jericho would clash again at Backlash 2005, in which Benjamin left victorious again.
In the first ever Elimination Chamber match contested for the Intercontinental Title, Dolph Ziggler and Wade Barrett start the highly anticipated contest. The match also featured Ryback, Sheamus, R-Truth, and Mark Henry, with Ryback winning the match and becoming IC Champion for the first time.
In one of the greatest matches in history Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage go at it in what is a 5 star match. Steamboat would win the title at Mania for the first time and go on to hold the belt for 65 days in the spring of 1987.
Rey Mysterio during his entrance as Champion before a match with Mike Knox on Smackdown. This was during Mysterio's second reign as Champion during 2009. He would loose the title to John Morrison on Smackdown in September later that year.
