Fastlane 2019 Preview
WWE Fastlane took place on Sunday night in Cleveland, Ohio and was the last stop on the exciting road to Wrestlemania 35. Since it's inception in 2015 Fastlane hasn't had the greatest history of PPVs, but with this year's installment holding so much anticipation, much thanks to The Shield's second reunion, did the superstars of Raw and Smackdown impress? Let's take a look.
One of my favourite matches of the night was the triple threat match for the Raw Tag Team Championship as the current holders The Revival took on Chad Gable & Bobby Roode, and Aleister Black & Ricochet. From the very start the match was entertaining with each team bribing a different dynamic, allowing many different spots to take place. The Southern Style of the Revival was a heavy contrast to that of Black & Ricochet, with Gable & Roode standing somewhere in the middle. Although the match was only 10 minutes it was played out perfectly with The Revival retaining the belts but all three teams looking as good as ever.
Mustafa Ali was added to the WWE Title match between Daniel Bryan and Kevin Owens in what was frustrating for many fans, as it was Kofi Kingston who was the favourite to be added. Even if Ali wasn't first choice he did perform well in the match and, like with the tag team match, allowed for a second top class triple threat to take place. The reason behind Ali being added to the match was for him to take the fall after a Bryan running knee and to ensure that Owens, even though he didn't win the belt, still looked strong, as it is he who will plays Bryan's longer-term rival. I am not a fan of Bryan but the match itself was strong and went for 18 minutes which is a decent run time for a non-main event.
Speaking of main event, the night's closing match saw The Shield defeat Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre in a predictable but fun six-man tag. This was a well fought match by both teams and was hard-hitting but sometimes the action seamed a bit stiff. Corbin, McIntyre and Lashley are good heels and served as the perfect, ruthless enemies for the Shield brotherhood. 24 minutes after the bell Reigns, Rollins, and Ambrose hit Corbin with a huge triple-powerbomb for the victory.
Overall I believe this was a good PPV and is the greatest Fastlane show to date. I give this PPV a strong 7/10. What are your thoughts on Fastlane 2019? Please comment below and come back soon for more wrestling action.
